Artist's Statement

One of my favorite subjects is the human figure.  Figurative work is one of the most challenging and expressive. You get no break, and you cannot cut corners in figurative art.

It is very importnant to me to create work that is technically sound. I keep myself in shape by attending life drawing labs even if I don't work on a figurative piece at the time.

Figurative work always attracts the interest of the audience. People can relate to it easily because it touches them at the core.

Some of my most favorite contemporary living artists are figurative painters and sculptors.  They profoundly inform and influence my work. Lucian Freud, Jenny Saville, Miroslav Paral, and others -  they all remain a source of great inspiration and admiration for me.
